Snow Days!

I absolutely love falling snow. I think it’s magical — and even more so because we rarely get to see it. The last time I saw falling snow was Thanksgiving a few years ago at the Hutts’ house and I was not really in a state of mind to enjoy it. We did have snow fall about 15 years ago in Redlands, but that was only a smattering.

But today, I woke up to snow! It was falling really hard, although it’s difficult to tell that in this picture. We enjoyed it for awhile then went to breakfast — and it was snowing really hard there. At times it seemed like near white out conditions. Not quite, but nearly.

I shot video while we were at Jenny’s and on the way home, but I’m struggling to get it linked. Luckily, this isn’t a well-traveled blog that needs lots of bells and whistles! This short video shows the size of the flakes and that it was beginning to stick.

Oddly, when we got home, the snow had turned to rain. I say “oddly” because home is actually at a slightly higher elevation than Jenny’s, where all the snow was. Our house must have been at the edge of the cell that brought the winter weather.

There was actually a blizzard warning for the Los Angeles area, about 70 miles SW of us. I read that it was the first one in over 35 years. I just got an email from a friendly, telling me that there was snow on the famous Hollywood sign!

WOW.
